Barley is the third important crop in North Wello and Wag Hemra after tef and sorghum while it ranks 4th in South Wello after tef, sorghum and wheat. At the regional state and national levels, barley ranks 5th after tef, sorghum, maize and wheat. Oromiya, Amhara and Tigray Regional States account about 87% of barley production in the country.
