Barley is the third important crop in North Wello and Wag Hemra after tef and sorghum while it ranks 4^th in South Wello after tef, sorghum and wheat. At the regional state and national levels, barley ranks 5^th after tef, sorghum, maize and wheat. Oromiya, Amhara and Tigray Regional States account about 87% of barley production in the country.
